Time is 1956. Greek Cypriots are being stopped by the British from attempting to join Greece only because the Brits needTurkey as an ally - it is the gateway to their oil interests in the Middle East. So three commandos and a BBC reporter are thrown together on a mountain on Cyprus. The commandos mission is to find and eliminate some local terrorists and get off the island. But their lives are imperiled when two Greek terrorists are scheduled to be hung for murdering a British soldier. Their execution is liable to rouse the entire island against the British. Not only that, but the BBC reporter eats away at the commandos morale by revealing what the entire campaign is about - oil. Then the personal enters the picture: the fact is, all is not well between the three soldiers for very personal reasons. Not only that, but the local boy who cooks for them may not be just any young man - this undercurrent makes for a tense, high-stakes drama that is very satisfying.
